- What type of Bellydance is Tribal Style
Stylazation offered to Intermediates/Advanced Students.
There is no simple way to describe Tribal Bellydance. So here's the shortest answer.
Tribal Bellydance Style is credited to Jamila Samlimpour. Although it is Carolena Nericcio who created the "Tribal Vocabulary", the "Tribal Aesthetic" and the entire original "Tribal Look" she also popularized the style see www.fcbd.com for more information. In a nutshell, Tribal Style is a fusion of many worlds, set in a format that creates a common language with other dancers, so you are able to dance together, improvising through cues and body language that tell the other performer the moves you're doing next. There is so much more to say on this. Also check out www.blacksheepbellydance.com and www.gypsycaravan.com/us
The look and costuming are more organic and reflective of different worlds, such as the Middle East, India, Morocco and even Flamenco touches evident in the posture.

- What is Tribal Fusion
In my own words, you take Tribal Style and modernize it, and you have Tribal Fusion, as in blend it with anything you wish. See www.ultragypsy.com, www.rachelbrice.com & www.urbantribaldance.com
The visions of bellydance have always evolved and changed throughout the ages and it will continue to do so. We can maintain it as pure as it once was, or we can take it as far as our own imaginations allow, as we are only limited by our own creativity.
- Do I need special attire or shoes for Belly Dance
No shoes for Belly Dance
Wear strecthy form fitting clothes that we can see and check your torso for proper posture
Absolutely no shorts or extra revealing attire in class.
please leave your pretty belly dance costumes at home and wear them to our parties
- Do I have to purchase a hipsash for Belly Dance
No. But it helps to see the balance lines of the hips. We prefer you wear the NON-Coin ones.
We do not like coin sashes in class. But if you want to wear them, please make sure you pick up coins that may drop so you or your near by students won't step on them
- What do I wear for Salsa Classes
Regular street attire
Dance Shoes
- What do I wear for Fitness Classes
Work Out clothes (stretchy form fitting)
Clean Tennis Shoes please.
- YES YOU CAN - Class Etiquette
Please don't say you can't. Not only are you discouraging yourself, but you discourage others as well.
Belly Dance, like many other dance styles is not learned in one or several classes. Your body must first learn and record to muscle memory a series of muscular movements through isolations. This takes time, so be patient with yourself.
In time, you'll be flowing like a pro. This dance journey is different for every woman. Don't come ready dance, come ready to learn. Don't dance to impress, dance to express.
